Falangist History

I have a few questions about the "Falangist" name.  What does "Falangist" mean?  How did Francisco decide that Falangist is the term that his followers are to be called?

Thank you!

the word "Falange" or Phalange is derived from the Greek "Phalanx" or "Phalangos" generally meaning "line of batttle" but more specifically the densely-packed triangular or square formation of spearmen favored by the classical greeks.

The word refers to the discipline and unit cohesion necessary to win a battle.

The word "Falangist" was used almost simultaneously in the early 20th Century by three distinct political movements. The Christian Falange movements in Austria and Lebanon were both strong reactions to Muslim Imperialism.

Read the histories of Engelbert Dolfuss, Pierre Gemayel and the Kataeb.

The Spanish Falange was a Catholic Labor Movement that veered off into full Fascism and was a forerunner and contemporary od Mussolinin's Fascist movement, from which it derived military and political aide during the Spanish Revolution.

The CFPA is related most strongy to the movements of Pierre Gemayel and Bashir Gemayel, and most closely resembles the Christian Falange Party of Engelbert Dolfuss in style and platform.

The CFPA is not a fascist movement, although confusion with the Spanish Falange is inevitable.

Viva Franco.

I am a proud defender of the Spanish Falange. It turned back Marxism, atheism and anarchism, without apology. It had BACKBONE, which the Christian West lacks today.

RE: Falangist History

Shouldn't the name of the party be "Falange?" There is no such thing as "Falangism."

Has anyone read "Engelbert Dollfuss; Austrian Patriot?"  I've thought about picking it up from IHS Press along with a couple books by Chesterton and Belloc.  I'd like to hear people's opinions.

Thanks!

The CFPA is NOT anti-Catholic nor anti other Christian. The CFPA does however take issue with the liberal Catholic Bishops and Pastors in the US.

Our organization is basically modeled after two Catholic political parties-movements...one being the "Kataeb" of Lebanon and the other the "Vaterländische Front" of Austria and we believe in a Nationalistic Democratic Republic not a dictatorship.

off course not. i am not that ignorant. i know the kateab is mostly Maronite and Austrian Falange and Spanish Falange were/are catholic. i was asking in response to an anonymous post on the discussion about the Vatican. which sounded a bit anti catholic. perhaps its my personal history when it comes to far right wing organizations in the U.S. (not to say i have much). many spew anti catholic filth. but again let me clarify by your web page it is very apparent your Christian and Falangist. i have many questions but must formulate them first to save this board much hassle.
ever yours and my prayers are with you.
towards a Christian Falangist Canada! Strong Christian and Free.
